Laos door to door freight service from China to Laos logistics
As a inland country in Southeast Asia, Laos is close to four countries including Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The transportation of goods mainly depends on land and sea-land transportation.
For land transportation, the border between Laos and my country is at the Mohan Port in Yunnan. Under normal circumstances, the goods will be transported to the supervised warehouse by Chinese trucks, waiting for export clearance; after the documents are processed, the Laos vehicles will arrive at the warehouse through the Boding Port, reload the cargo and then return to Laos.
The documents required for land transportation are as follows:
commercial invoice
List of goods
Consignee's business license (copy)
Consignee’s tax registration certificate (copy)
Consignee's annual plan (copy)
The consignee's duty-free approval (original)
Here I will focus on the consignee’s annual plan and the tax-free approval. These two documents are bound together. First, the annual plan is the total amount of annual imported goods that the consignee applies to the local government. Only the goods in the plan can be imported. The product name, weight, and volume need to be consistent, and the duty-free approval is used for the import goods in the schedule to be exempted from customs duties and value-added tax. Generally speaking, the value-added tax is charged at 10% of the value of the goods.
The second mode of transportation is sea-land combined transportation, which mainly transits from Thailand's port, Laem Chabang, Bangkok or Vietnam ports into Laos. The main port for transshipment is Laem Chabang. First, Laem Chabang is Deep-water port, break bulk vessel and container vessel can be called; (break bulk cargo terminal: Laem Chabang C0 terminal, referred to as LRT; container terminal: Laem Chabang A1-A5, B1-B5, C1-C5) Secondly, Bangkok port requires only direct vessel that can carry out customs transit operations, which reduces the options for shipping in the previous section.
Documents required for sea-land combined transport:
Packing list and invoice
Telex bill of lading (Bill of lading is divided into three forms, original bill of lading, telex bill of lading, SWB. It is recommended to use telex or SWB, because carrier will issue the bill of lading two or three days after the vessel departure, and it takes a while for the original to be sent. Time may lead to the inability to transfer customs in a timely manner and cause other expenses such as demurrage fees.)
Consignee's business license (copy)
Consignee’s tax registration certificate (copy)
Consignee's annual plan (copy)
The consignee's duty-free approval (original)
Relatively speaking, the second method may have a longer time limit. It is suitable for goods that are close to the port or far away from Yunnan. If there are more goods, container transportation can be considered, and the cost will be lower. In the case of container transportation, it will be unloaded to the truck at the port and delivered directly to Laos by the Thai vehicle, unloaded at the consignee’s door, and then the empty container will be returned to the designated storage yard. The FR container can be directly unloaded at the port and delivered the goods to final destination. As Thai vehicles enter Laos within a time limit, it is necessary to arrange a time for unloading in advance to avoid incurring costs.
On the basis of the above, there is another kind of cargo that is more special, that is, BREAK BULK CARGO; for the bulk cargo, they are all heavy in volume, such as some construction vehicles, infrastructure, and large-scale machinery and equipment. The roads in Laos are very underdeveloped, so there are very strict restrictions on over-standard goods. If you need to transport such goods, you also need to apply to the local traffic control department in advance for the "over-standard cargo transportation permit". You need to provide cargo information and transportation routes, the staff will conduct on-site surveys, and if there are no problems, the permit will be passed. Laos is in rainy season from April to October, especially after August, which may cause road damage. Therefore, it is recommended that land transportation should be better to avoid the period from August to October to avoid risks.
Note: Over-standard cargo size: the size of a single piece of cargo is greater than 12m*2.5m*2.5m (L*W*H), and the weight is greater than 25 tons.
Our company has long-term operation of the whole cargo transportation service from all parts in China to Laos, including delivery to door, unloading, customs clearance information assistance, etc. Provide both pure land transportation and sea-car combined transportation, and provide appropriate logistics transportation services according to the cargo situation.
